To a large extent, life consists of better living through chemistry. I have hydocodone/ibuprofen for pain, Valium for muscle relaxation, and Ambien CR for sleeping. I've decided that Valium's main benefit, other than making the neck and back strain from being face-down all the time more tolerable, is that it makes being bored less boring.

That's the good news. The bad news is that the eye surgeon doesn't want me reading books.

My eye feels like someone poked it with a sharp stick, but the drugs take the edge off.

I went to the ophthalmalogist yesterday, and had a retinal scan. (Lasers! Noninvasive technology! Way cool.) Also had my pupils dilated, which took forever to wear off -- I think the tech got overenthusiastic with the drops. I appear to have a tightened area in the macula that gave way with a slight tear (this is apparently a good thing ( Read more... )
